Biography
Dirk Matheussen (°1961) joined Across in 2010 as director. Active in IT since 1985, Dirk has more than 15 years of senior management experience (COO, CIO, CEO) in different IT companies. His focus is on making agile, high performing & business-aligned IT organisations.
Dirk holds a Master in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ghent. After his studies (1985), he started his career as a Software Field Engineer at Sycotex, a division of Barco Automation. He wrote and deployed software packages for manufacturing control systems in the textile industry, used in different mills worldwide.
In 1991 he became a client/server consultant at Case Consult but quickly became managing consultant and a few years later CTO of Case Consult Benelux. He guided the transformation of Case Consult from a consulting company into a high tech, java-based, project-oriented company. After the acquisition of Case Consult by marchFIRST (a US-based web agency), he became country manager of marchFIRST BeNe. Dirk successfully transformed this technology-oriented company into a leading web company.
In 2003, Dirk joined Certipost, a joint venture between Belgacom & the Belgian Post. As IT & Customer Service Director he integrated the different operational (ICT development teams, service teams, data- centres, project teams, service desks) departments of Certipost, which resulted in the development of a lean, agile and high performing ICT & Customer Service Department. He introduced ITIL in the service part of Certipost, created a project office based on PMI principles, and introduced Agile practices (SCRUM) for the development teams. Dirk ended his mission at Certipost as CEO a.i.
At Across Dirk focuses on finding innovative solutions to support customers in making their IT department agile, cheaper, faster & better aligned with business.
Besides his passion for IT, Dirk pushes the limits on his race bike (by preference “cols hors category”), and in his cooking and pastry. He holds an official degree as cook from Spermalie (Brugge) and loves to prepare meals for his wife, four kids and friends.
