Peter (1969) is co-founder of ACROSS communications and serves as its Managing Director. An entrepreneur, lecturer and writer, he is also the chairman of Porthus.com and has been an Entrepreneur in Residence with McKinsey & Company.
Early in his career, Peter worked at Alcatel as Vice-President responsible for the marketing & business development of Alcatel Telecom Software & Services. He later served as founder and CEO of e-COM Interactive, one of the leading Internet consultancy firms in Europe. With e-Com, Peter was responsible for the implementation of large-scale Internet, e-commerce projects and information systems for DHL Worldwide Express, S.W.I.F.T., BBL, Alcatel, SONY Europe, Belgacom and Volvo.
In 1998, Alcatel acquired the majority in e-COM, and the company was renamed Alcatel e-COM. Peter Hinssen remained as CEO, responsible for both the local and international operations, growing the company to more than 300 employees.
In addition to his many activities in the world of e-business, Peter is an in-demand international lecturer on technical and non-technical matters and is a contributing writer to WiReD magazine. He has provided in-house seminars, workshops and lectures for Apple, Belgacom, FORTIS, Telindus, Johnson & Johnson, Alcatel, Siemens, the European Commission, ING, DHL, Wegener Group, Volvo, Continental, Solvay and Honeywell. He has also provided keynote speeches for the likes of AGFA, Barco, BEA Systems, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Cognicase, Computer Associates, IBBT, IBM, KPMG and Microsoft, among many others.
